Here is a quick run down of some FAQs

Q: How does The Next Read work?

A: The Next Read is a book sampling & swap club. Members pay a KES 2,000 refundable registration fee and a KES 2,000 monthly subscription. Once you join, you get access to a shared catalogue of curated books and can borrow one book at a time. There’s no limit to how many books you can read in a month—simply borrow, read, swap, and repeat as many times as you’d like.

 

Q: How do I choose and request a book?

A: Browse the catalogue and request your chosen book via the request form on our website. We take care of the books—you handle delivery. Once your request is confirmed, the book will be dispatched to you via Uber Boda, with delivery costs paid by the member.

 

Q: How long can I keep a book?

A: Each book can be borrowed for up to two weeks. If you finish early or decide it’s not for you, you’re welcome to return it sooner and request another book.

 

Q: What if I don’t like the book?

A: That’s completely okay. There’s no pressure to finish any book. You can return it early and swap it for another—no explanations needed.

 

Q: What happens if a book is damaged or lost?

A: Normal reading wear is expected. However, if a book is returned with significant damage or is lost, the cost of replacement will be charged. We simply ask that books are handled with care so everyone can enjoy them.

 

Q: Can I borrow more than one book at a time?

A: To keep things fair and smooth for all members, borrowing is limited to one book at a time. Once a book is returned, you’re free to request the next one.

 

Q: Can I pause or cancel my membership?

A: Yes. You can choose to exit the club at any time. Once all borrowed books are returned in good condition, your registration fee is refunded. Monthly subscriptions are billed monthly.

Q: What if the book I want isn’t available?

A: If a book is currently borrowed, you can choose another from the catalogue or wait until it becomes available. You’re also welcome to suggest books for future catalogue updates.
